Privacy Policy

Ascend Research (“Ascend,” “we,” “us”) builds research and decision-support tools for your investment book. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the control you have over it. Ascend provides research and education — not investment advice.
Information we collect
- Account information— your email address, and your name if you choose to share it through Sign in with Apple.
- Portfolio & research data you provide— the holdings, transactions, theses, watchlist items, notes, and decisions you record in the app.
- Usage & diagnostics— how you use the app (features opened, interactions), your device and app version, and crash/error diagnostics, so we can keep the product working.
- Notifications— a device push token (via the Apple Push Notification service) if you enable notifications.
What we don’t collect
We don’t collect your contacts, precise location, photos, or your browsing history outside the app. We don’t connect to your brokerage unless you explicitly choose to link one. We don’t use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
How we use your information
- Operate the service — build your book and generate research, theses, briefs, and alerts.
- Send the notifications you opt into.
- Maintain security and prevent abuse.
- Understand and improve the product.
AI processing
Some features send your portfolio and research data to AI models to generate analysis, summaries, and briefs. This data is processed to produce your results. It is not used to train third-party models.
Service providers
We rely on trusted infrastructure to run Ascend: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel and Fly.io (hosting and compute), Apple (Sign in with Apple and push delivery), and Anthropic (the AI models that generate analysis from your data). We also query market-data providers such as Financial Modeling Prep and EarningsCall — these receive the tickers and queries we look up, not your personal information. Each provider may process data only to provide its service to us.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ascend, our users, or the public.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your data in the app and turn notifications on or off at any time. You can permanently delete your account and its associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or export your data — contact us and we’ll help.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and your portfolio and research content, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted to what’s needed to operate the service. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Ascend is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
International users
Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as the product evolves and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
